Oats are rich in vitamins and minerals including B vitamins, thiamin with B5, niacin and folate and the minerals, calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc. They also contain small amounts vitamin E, folic acid and potassium.
Oats are a good source of soluble fibre. A number of studies have shown that a diet which is low in fat and rich in soluble fibre can help reduce high blood cholesterol levels.
Oats have a low Glycaemic Index which means they are absorbed into the blood stream slowly helping to keep blood sugar levels stable.
