Re-known as
an athrodisiac, asparagus is an obvious choice for Valentine's Day combine with pumpkin seeds which supply zinc, an essential nutrient for male fertility.

Lightly steam fresh asparagus spears (allow 3-4 spears per person ) for about 6-7 minutes, wrap the warm spears in slices of parma ham and drizzle with a vinaigrette made from 1 teaspoon of white wine vinegar and 1-2 tablespoons of pumpkin oil, sprinkle with Munchy Seeds Pumpkin Mix.

Oat Crusted Sea Bass with Garlic Vegetables

Sea bass, oats and garlic are all sources of the amino acid L-Arginine which supports male sexual performance.

Put 85g of Pertwood Organic porridge oats in a food processor and whizz until they resemble bread crumbs, tip into a small pan and gentle toast with a little olive oil over a low heat, add 1 small chopped chilli (de-seeded) and some fresh, chopped coriander. Remove from the heat and set aside. Place two sea bass fillets (prepared and de-boned) on a greased baking sheet, skin side down, and carefully top with the oat crust. Bake in a medium oven for 10-15 minutes until the topping is golden and the fish is cooked. Serve with seasonal vegetables that have been gently sautéed in a little olive oil with 1 crushed garlic clove - wilted spinach and new potatoes work well.

Banoffee Pie

This dessert makes for a fabulous finale, the luscious texture is melt in the mouth gorgeous and the look of the dessert leaves just the right impression (although it is actually very easy to make). The recipe combines bananas which supply bromelain, an enzyme thought to boost male libido, with chocolate which supplies a sedative to promote relaxation and a stimulant to increase desire.

Line a 20cm spring-form tin with baking parchment. Place 275g of Nairn's Whole-grain Oat digestives in a bowl and crush with the end of a rolling pin, add 125g of melted butter and combine well. Spread over the base of the tin and even out. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Spread 250g of dulche de leche (such as Merchant Gourmet's) over the biscuit base, top with 5 bananas (peeled and sliced) and 250ml whipped cream. Finish with a sprinkle of Lizi's Granola Crunch (the treacle and pecan is our favourite) and finely grated dark chocolate such as Divine's 70% chocolate, allow about one 40g bar.

Finish the evening with a cup of Pukka Herb's Love tea, a delicious infusion of rose, chamomile and lavender.

If you're planning a gift for that special person then what could be more romantic than some delicious dark chocolate? Here are our suggestions to make your Valentine feel extra special:

Chocolate dipped Strawberries
- wash and dry a punnet of ripe strawberries. Meanwhile bring a pan of water to the boil, reduce to a simmer and place a heat proof bowl over the top. Break two bars of 70% Divine chocolate into pieces and place in the bowl, melt gently stirring as you do so. Remove from the heat and allow the chocolate to cool slightly. Dip the pointed end of each strawberry into the chocolate and then lay on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment. Leave to set in a cool place, a cool larder would be ideal. Present the strawberries in a pretty glass bowl with a chilled glass of something bubbly.

Chocolate Chip Cookies
- beat together 125g butter with 50g Zylosweet and 100g light muscovado sugar, until light and fluffy. Stir in 150g self raising flour (sifted) and 2 tablespoons milk, mix well. Then add 175g Plamil Organic Dark Chocolate (roughly chopped) and 50g (2 packs) Nakd Orange Amazin Raisins. Divide into about 12-14 equal portions and roughly shape into a ball. Place (well apart) on a greased and lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until the cookies are pale and golden but soft at the centre. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire rack. Present in a pretty gift bag tied with a ribbon.
