Another major cost for all us office workers are the all too frequent cups of Cappuccino that help to dissect the work day! If you enjoy a good coffee then make it a special treat but just remember a regular takeaway from one of the big names costs you in excess of £2 a cup. So why not replace one or two of your regular trips to the coffee shop with a healthy and tasty alternative? Our favourite is Pukka Organic’s Pleasure tea which is a rich blend of dark cocoa, sweet licorice and smooth roasted chicory – and yes it really does taste as good as it sounds PLUS at just over 10p a cup think of the money you’ll be saving!

Make the most of the lighter evenings by walking to and from work instead of getting the bus or train. Walking is a more natural form of exercise to running or jogging and it not only reduces the cost of your fare home but doubles up by saving on that monthly gym subscription. Get yourself a pedometer and set yourself progressive targets so you make the most of your new exercise regime; studies suggest exercisers who use a pedometer are 27% more active than those who don’t. Incorporating exercise into your day to day routine is the ideal.

Expensive equipment, gym membership and a personal trainer are not necessary but understanding what you enjoy and what makes you laugh is. If you have children activities that involve the whole family are important, after all it saves on child care costs and it’s what memories are made of! How about flying a kite or playing Frisbee, both of which are great for working your core muscles. A hula hoop, trampoline or good old fashioned skipping are also fun ways to stay in shape on a budget.
