Founded in 1975 by Alex Smith who along-with his wife still owns and manages the business, Alara can make claim to some pretty humble beginnings. Now, after 30 years in the business, the company is as committed as ever to producing wholesome food in a sustainable manner. Certified by the Soil Association in 1988, Alara concentrate their production on muesli and are responsible for producing almost 50% of the organic muesli in the UK. Their delicious range includes the gluten free version we stock here at the Mood Food Company.

Alara has gained a reputation for its commitment to the environment and has become the first company to achieve zero waste status for its London Head office. Recently named Small Company of the Year at the Food Manufacturers Excellence Awards Alara has been recognised for its pioneering approach to environmental issues.
